New Crafts

Hiya

Here are my most recent projects...............

A Mini Album for Baby Seren.  Grow well little one.  Love Auntie Vikki. x-x-x

Itty Bitty Mini - A British Summer.  This one is 1 of 3 that I made for a swap on Mini Album Scraps.  I can't wait to see what I get back.

All 3 together.  They should have arrived in America by now.  I loved making these and they were really enjoyable to put together.

A swap for Maxine titled My Garden.  It was a coin envelope mini and it turned out really nice.  I went all out to decorate it.

The inside.  It took hours to get it right but it was worth it and Maxine loved it.

Church shaped box holding a wedding mini for my dads best friends daughter, Joanna Hansler, nee Kilburn.

The end with the instructions on.  It was a lovely blessing and fantastic to see everyone.  It's true what they say - only get together at weddings, birthdays and funerals!

This mini isn't quite finished it still needs its covers on.  It is for the lovely Martyn and Sarah-Jane Parker who sadly had to have their perfect kitty, Blossom, put to sleep.  Perfect time to use my pawprint paper and card that I have been hoarding for 3 years.

That is the end of my crafty pictures for now.  I still have 1 more mini to photograph - a summer mini swap.

In Between Jobs

Hi All

I am back at home after a busy few weeks.  My last client sadly passed away.  The hardest part of my job.

My Grandma had a wobbly few days after having an operation on one of her eyes so I was driving her to and fro.

My Mummy (moomin) turned 60 and we headed off to London for the weekend.  Of course it was the start of the Olympics.  We went to the Warner Brothers studios to the Harry Potter museum on the Friday.  On the Saturday we went shopping in Hemel Hempstead.  On the Sunday we went to Kew Gardens and I caught a tropical disease.  Most likely I brushed against some sort of plant that brought one of my arms and both my legs out in a rash.  Itchy and moody days!!  On Monday we went to the British Museum, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden.  We travelled back home on Tuesday and work rang me to give me my next assignment for Tuesday next week.

All in all it was a busy week.  Here are a few pictures............

Harry Potter entrance.  It was awesome!

One of the makeup mirrors and yes, that me on the left!

The Night Bus.  So purple.

Diagon Alley.  That is all.

Scale Model - Hogwarts - AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Kew Gardens - Tropical Disease Country, lol.

The treetop walk - I climbed ALL of those flights of steps right to the top and back down again.  when I got back home I weighed myself and I hadn't lost a single lb - GUTTED!!!!!

Mums birthday cake.

We all had a great weekend.  Crafts coming up in the next post.

My 24 Drawer Tower

Hi All

I have just finished making a 24 drawer tower.  It was something that I thought I could make as an advent calendar but as I haven't got any christmas paper here I had to use what I have got.  I started by making 24 matchboxes.............

I stuck them together is stacks of 6 and arranged them in a square..................

I stuck them to a chipboard base and then put a lid on to stabilise them and I made some tabs to glue the sides of the matchboxes to the inside of the drawer.  That gave it strength and the I covered the insides of the drawers and put little ribbon pulls on the drawer fronts so that the drawers were easy to open.............

Completed box................

These are a couple of side views.........

And finally the lid......................

I made my matchboxes to measure 2"x3"x1" so I cut my drawer paper to 4"x5" and scored 1" in on all sides.  My outer matchboxes that made the recepticle for the drawer were cut at 3"x9" and scored at 1/2", 1 5/8, 4 6/8 and 5 7/8.  That gives you 1/2" overlap to glue down and complete the recepticle for the drawer.  I glued the recepticles together in stacks of 6.

I hope this helps.  With some of the offcuts from the bigger size 24 drawer stack I made a smaller 24 drawer stack and will post photos when I am done.  If you want further instructions then please leave me a message.

I may make a christmas one once I have got home to get christmas paper.

Much Love

Bruce Update

Hi All

I was looking through the Internet Movie Database yesterday trying to find out who did the voices for Bananas in Pyjamas. I decided to have a quick look to see what Bruce is doing and I was shocked and so so pleased to see that he is filming!  It's something called Getaway.  He is the Distinguished Man.  I was so excited but so tired as it had been a long day.  I just hope that the IMDb is right.  I wonder what happened to secret stone?

I read 50 shades of Grey.  All 3 books.  Hmmmm, just hmmm............

Time for breakfast I think.  I have been up since 6am and I am tired.  Have a good day.

Re-Kill Frustration!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All

I got an email from play.com to say that the release of Re-Kill has been changed to the status "To Be Advised"

I am confused and a little bit mad.  They pushed the release date to December and now this.  I am wondering if they have completed the film or if something else has happened.  We shall see.

I hope that nothing has happened to Bruce!

Recent Projects

Hi All

I have been busy crafting this week.  I finally got my copy of Nigel Mays A-May-Zing CD, All Kinds Of Everything.  There is so much potential on this CD for mini albums.  I will be having a night of printing out when I get home.

I joined an altered Matchbox swap on Mini Album Scraps.  We had to make it summer themed and either put goodies in both drawers or make a mini for one drawer.  I made a mini for the top and put goodies in the bottom drawer.

My swap partner is Noel Ware.  She didn't fancy a summer theme and wanted Shabby Chic and Vintage.  I used lace and ribbon and bling and flat backed pearls and alot of glue.  This is the top of the creation and the bling on the flap is Prima.

This is the back.  I love this lilac trim.  It has little beads attached to it and looks fabulous.

This is the side and the drawer pull.  The top matchbox openes with a flip lid..............

This is the lid up and the mini out and by the side.  I used a paper line called The London Line and i has all manner of Englishness on it such as double decker buses.  It's a lovely paper line. I really hope that Noel likes it.

On a more sour note, the mini that I made for Debbie Luke made it to her fine and she said that she loved it but unfortunately she FLAKED on me!!!!!!!!!  I am really upset about it but an Angel has made me a mini and it's in the post already.

I made a mini album just as a trial to see if I could do it and this is what I made....................

It is a vertical TP mini only I made my own TP rolls out of the cardstock.  I used the G45 Kraft Reflections paper line and I love it.

This is the back.  I followed a tutorial by Ginger who is mysistersscrapper on youtube.  I made is using her dimensions first then branched out into my own size.  Here's a quick look at the inside............

I will post pictures of the smaller one I made when I have completely finished it.

My fairy jar is flying it's way to Ireland and should arrive with Niamh soon.  All of my other swaps have made it to their destinations and everyone seems happy with them.

I had better get my space cleared up and start on my next project - a baby box to house something special I have made for my friend Emma's baby girl Saffron, who will soon be a year old.  where does the time go?

My Captured Fairy

Hi All

I have just finished my first captured fairy in a jar.  I will add that it's not a real fairy, just a printout of one. Take a look and tell me what you think..............

This is the front.  I had to glue the blue glass stones on one by one and it took forever and they go all round the back................

I think it turned out ok!!  I don't think I will be making another one anytime soon though.  It was so fiddly and almost went in the bin at several points.  You know me, though, I persisted and voila.....................

A captured fairy in a jar.

It's Saturday, it's mini time!!!!!!!!

Hiya All
I am so cross - Re-Kill has been pushed back to the end of December now!!!!!!!!!! I have probably grumbled about this before but it deserves fresh airing.  The frustration is unbearable, especially in this heat.  I know!!!!!!! Look at that sun, it's fabulous.

Anyway............. I have finished a couple of mini's that I thought would be worth a share. I finished the Thick and Chunky swap mini for Debbie Luke on My Scrap Room.  Here are a few sneak peeks......

This is the inside of the mini.  I made all the pages myself from cardstock.  Debbie said she liked orange and purple and teddy bears and butterflies so I did it all!

This is the front.  I left the space black for the title as I couldn't think of anything good to title it.

This is a flip up page.  I got the teddy bear stickers from Create and Craft a few years ago and I keep using them on an off, now and again.

I joined an itty bitty shaped mini swap and here is what I made................

These are really small, about 3" by 3" with all the tags sticking out.  I couldn't have a square or rectangle so I went with a triangle.  It's an envelope sealed up and cut into quarters diagonally and 1 side of the triangle folded in to make a smaller pocket and a larger one.  I punched holes in the top of the triangle and added eyelets for security and bound with a single book ring.  I think they turned out quite well.

I also joined a swap on Your Paper Pantry to upcycle a childrens book.  I was the only entrant and I am starting to wonder if there is a new NING site that all the swappers are going to as nobody is entering the swaps.  I will have to investigate further but in the mean time here is the upcycled book.  It was a book about a famous train and now it's a work of art.....................

This is the front cover.  Cari let me have free choice about what I made for her so  did my best with what I had to work with.  I am at work and can only carry so much stuff with me but I loved the way it turned out.

This is one lot of pages.  the book had flip outs so I covered those and wrapped it with a ribbon threader lace and tucked all the tags under them.  I made loads of tags for this album but it looks good.

I think that is all for today.  I have nothing to report other than my miffyness about Re-Kill.  Still, I suppose it's good they are taking their time with the movie and making sure it's perfect before they release it - just wish it didn't take so miffing long.  :)

On a more random note I would just like to say that I am not impressed with this country and it's politicians and I bet to anyone that is reading I don't even have to explain that statement.  I would also like to know if there is any way of being able to not use a bank - they get my grrrrrrrrrrrrs as well.  Sometimes I just feel so small and insignificant and that I have no voice!!

I hope you are all having a good day.

Mariposa Mini Album

Hi All

Here are some photos of a mini album that I made following a tutorial on youtube.  I followed xannero1's graphic 45 tutorial just used different paper.  It's not exactly the same and I put my own stamp on it but  have leaned some new techniques that I can take onto future albums.  I also learned some short cuts for envelopes and tags and nice neat foldouts with pockets.  You should go check her out and have a look she is amazing.

Here is the first page and it opens out to reveal pockets and tags and a flip up.

Here is my favourite page assembly.  There's a pocket all around the page and the top flips up but the flip up has 2 flip out pages - it's fantastic, and not too complicated.  I made my own teeny paper bag and a small-ish envelope and a fold out like a purse.  The papers are fantastic and so sturdy.

This is a busy page with pull out tags and pockets and plenty of room for photographs and journal spots.  Using the black card went well but whoever gets this album might want to invest in a white gel pen to journal on the black card.

This is the back cover.  I made a 3 ring binder cover from chipboard and covered it with the patterned paper.  The 3 rings were better than if I had used 2.  It looks to be holding it's own with the eyelets and I really hope that it all stays together.  People have been looking through it and it's not torn yet.

I have just finished my teeny minis for a swap at Mini Album Scraps.  It will be my first swap with this ning site so I have my fingers crossed that it will go smoothly.  They don't have to be sent until June but I am getting them sent off early next week so I know they have got there in time.

I have joined a think and chunky 6x6 mini album on My Scrap room and  will be starting that this week.  I also need to buy a children's book to alter somehow.  I will get out tomorrow and have a look see what I can find.  Fingers crossed I can find something interesting to alter.

I had better stop typing now.  Love to Al

Spring Paper Bag Mini for Jamie Morgan

Hi All

I made it to the post office yesterday and posted the last 3 packages that needed to go.  I posted a mini that I made for A Lil Scrap Of Heaven.  It is a spring mini and made for Jamie (lovelymomn3).  I followed a tutorial from Youtube made by charliejones2686.  Hers was a Christmas mini but I just changed the theme and made it flowery.

Here are some pictures....................

These are the charms down the spine.  I used Tim Holtz Grunge Paper for the spine and sprayed it gold then sealed in the gold with a layer of Crafters Companion Spray n Sparkle.

This is the front cover.  Mum made that purple and green flower in the middle of all the paper ones.  She made it out of material and sewed it together.

This is a birds eye view of the mini.  I had fun making it and all the pages are different and have pockets and flip downs and flip ups.  The paper bags were green and blended really well with the paper line that I used which is Susan Winget Speciality paper.  I think it turned out really unique.

This is a page full of tags.  It has turned out sideways, lol.

This is a flip up page.

I hope that everyone is well.
